A Classic Beach Engagement Photoshoot at Wingaersheek Beach
Beach engagement photos are always such a dream, especially with that classic New England coastal feel. And Wingaersheek Beach? It brings it. A beach engagement photoshoot, especially in a place like this, is perfect for the couple who wants a little bit of romance, a little bit of fun, and a little bit of variety in their engagement photos! I mean, after all, it’s essentially just a romantic beach date, and who doesn’t want that?
That’s why I love capturing beach engagement sessions as a Boston engagement photographer. It gives you the space for movement, fun, presence… The formula for a beautiful gallery! Wingaersheek Beach is a clean slate that lets your story breathe, and I’m obsessed with the photos here every single time. Krystle and Jon’s session is bringing all the inspiration for your own beach engagement photoshoot: the best outfits, the best poses, and all the romance. I’ll never be over it!
Krystle and Jon’s Beach Engagement Photoshoot at Wingaersheek Beach
I kicked off summer with Krystle and Jon at Wingaersheek Beach in Gloucester, and the vibes were so high! These two were just so fun to photograph. They moved, they danced, they laughed, and their love was so cute.
We hit Wingaersheek Beach on the most perfect early summer night. The beach was a bit crowded, and the lighting was tricky at times, but as a Boston engagement photographer (who takes a ton of beach engagement photos), I know how to work around those things so that all you have to do is show up and be adorable!
The beach allowed for so much movement and play, so the posing we got to do at Krystal and Jon’s session was very fun. I can’t get enough of these two rolling around in the sand and running into the water!
Why Wingaersheek Beach is the Perfect Spot for Your Beach Engagement Photos
Wingaersheek Beach is a Massachusetts treasure. Serene vibes, rock formations that give that classic Northeast feel, and a sunset that frames you like the main character you are… I’m fully obsessed!
Not only is this space gorgeous, it also makes beach engagement photos easy. There are so many options to give your gallery variety (so that you don’t have a ton of photos all with the same backdrop). The texture, the movement, and the setting in each picture work together to create something truly special.
Another thing I love about engagement photos at Wingaersheek Beach? It’s so easy to find secluded spots, even when the beach is busy. And as your Boston engagement photographer, I know them all. No worrying about people in the background of your pictures, even if we go at prime-time. I’ve got it covered!
Planning Your Beach Engagement Photoshoot
Beach engagement photos take extra preparation, because you have to consider things like crowds, lighting, and weather. But don’t worry, that’s where I come in! I have all my top tips for your own beach engagement photos here, so that you don’t have to go on a wild goose chase looking for everything you need to know!
The Best Time to Take Beach Engagement Photos
The #1 question my couples ask me is the best time to hit the beach for your engagement photos. The ideal time will always be a summer evening on a weeknight, about an hour or two before sunset to get that East Coast lighting that looks like a dream.
If you’d rather avoid crowds than move around them, I get it. For you, early morning during the week will be a better time!
What to Wear for Your Beach Engagement Photos
Let’s talk outfits, because they fully change the vibe of your engagement session! You can go more classy, more casual, or a little bit of both. As your Boston engagement photographer, I’ll always say do the outfit change!
Neutral or pastel colors will always be complemented well by the beach. The neutral, sandy colors plus the pastel skies makes a dream palette, and pulling from those tones will always be a good choice! Here are a few beach engagement photo outfit ideas that I always love:
Flowy fabrics – chiffons, silks, and tulles will always catch beautifully in the wind and give you that beautiful, delicate wind-blown look that looks so good in a place like this.
Neutral tones and blues – because these colors, paired with the way the light hits the ocean, are unmatched.
Comfort is key – remember that we’ll be moving around a lot, so wearing something that you feel good in is the most important piece of the puzzle!
Krystle’s outfits? The inspiration of all inspiration. Her first dress (with a gorgeous pop of blue) gave a classy, coastal feel, and her second look (a sweater + jean combo) was simple and effortless, perfect for the poses we did!
What to Bring to Your Beach Engagement Photoshoot
If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I always come prepared! If you’re a little bit type A like me, here are the things that I always make sure to bring to a beach engagement photoshoot:
A jacket for when the sun sets (trust me, it gets chilly!)
A blanket for sitting on the ground
A towel for after you get out of the ocean
A comfy, warm, dry change of clothes for the way home
Water and a snack (hangry does not make for the best photos!)
