Keep reading to see why I keep this one near the top of my all-time fave wedding venue list, plus everything you need to know to plan the perfect wedding there!
Why I’m So Obsessed With The Grove at Briar Barn Inn in Rowley, MA
If you can’t already tell, I love The Grove at Briar Barn Inn. There are basically endless reasons, but a few of the standout things about the wedding venue to me are:
It’s modern, rustic, and charming, all at the same time
They offer all-inclusive packages that make wedding planning feel like a breeze (which, if you’ve read my 2027 Boston wedding planning guide, you know is a dream come true)
The food keeps people talking throughout the whole reception
It’s impossible to get bad photos here because every inch of the venue is so beautiful
The flow of weddings here feels so natural and effortless, so there are never any awkward moments, and the whole day feels relaxed
The standout thing for me (and my couples) about The Grove, though, is how easy it makes the entire experience feel. You're not juggling a million moving pieces or wondering where everyone needs to be next at any point in the day. Everything flows so naturally, which means you get to spend more time actually enjoying your wedding instead of managing it.
Who a Grove at Briar Barn Inn Wedding Fits Well
You might already be as obsessed as I am, and if you are… I love that for you.
If your dream wedding looks like actually sitting down for dinner with your favorite people instead of running from one photo to the next…
If you care more about hearing your grandparents laugh than recreating every Pinterest trend…
If you want a beautiful wedding that still feels relaxed…
I think you'll absolutely love The Grove.
Planning a Wedding at The Grove At Briar Barn Inn? Here Are All the Details You Need to Know
If you’re anything like me (a little type A and a big planner), you’re probably sitting there thinking, “Okay, but give me the details.” And girl… I totally get it.
The Massachusetts wedding venue is located inside Briar Barn Inn, 101 Main Street, Rowley, MA 01969, about 35 miles north of Boston. You get the choice between indoor and outdoor options for your ceremony and/or reception, so you have options (and a rain plan, which we love)!
The Grove is a perfect spot for a more intimate wedding, holding up to 100 guests. A wedding where you actually get to enjoy your company and talk to every person you invited is ideal, honestly.
They hold weddings year-round here, and it looks just as gorgeous in a wintry, snowy off-season wedding as it does in a sun-soaked, outdoor summer reception. And as though this venue couldn’t get any better… It has on-site accommodations. So, that tucked-away wedding weekend feel?? It’s all yours.
What a Wedding at The Grove Feels Like
One of my favorite things about this Massachusetts wedding venue is that weddings here feel simple. Even if they have a super elegant, super luxurious design, everything feels like it came together effortlessly.
My couples who get married here tend to start the night before with a rehearsal-dinner-turned-welcome-party, celebrating with their closest friends and family until well after the sun goes down.
Then, since you get to wake up on the property (love), mornings feel slow. I’m taken aback by how calm mornings here feel every single time. You have time to grab a cup of coffee, step outside and get some fresh air, and even do some morning yoga before you start getting ready, if that’s your style!
Ceremonies feel sweet and secluded, and receptions feel cozy and full of light, whether you’re in the barn or out on the patio. Everything is totally relaxed and full of fun, all day long.
A Sample Wedding Timeline for a Grove Wedding
My type A brain simply won’t let me talk about how natural the venue’s flow is without giving you a sample timeline to prove it. So, if you need a full timeline for your Grove wedding, I’ve got it covered:
9:00 am: Start getting ready with your gals in your suite
12:00 pm: Have lunch (very important, both because we don’t want you hangry and because the food is delicious)
1:00 pm: First look, private vows, and portraits on the lawn with the inn behind you
2:00 pm: Wedding party and family photos at the front of the house and inside before the guests start arriving
3:00 pm: Hide away from guests before the ceremony
4:00 pm: Say “I do!”
4:30 pm: Cocktail hour on the patio
5:00 pm: Reception entrances
5:30 pm: Dinner + toasts
7:00 pm: Dance floor opens
8:00 pm: Sunset portraits on the patio
Wedding Venue Spaces at The Grove at Briar Barn Inn
There are three choices for where to hold your ceremony and reception at The Grove at Briar Barn Inn, and I’m honestly obsessed with all of them. You can do an outdoor ceremony + indoor reception, both indoor, or both outdoor. We love options!
Check out the venue spaces:
The Lawn: The Lawn is the perfect spot for outdoor wedding ceremonies, with the forest behind you and the inn behind your guests. It’s basically something straight out of Pinterest.
The Burrow & Terrace: I’m always gonna be a sucker for a reception space that has an attached patio for cocktail hours, and this one is even better than the rest because of its white base + wood accents! I’m so in love.
The Main Dining Area: For that classic barn feel for indoor ceremonies or receptions, you’ll love the Main Dining Area. String lights, high ceilings, iron chandeliers, and exposed wood make this space a rustic dream that I’ll probably never be over.
The Best Time of Year to Get Married at The Grove in Rowley, MA
Asking me my favorite season for a wedding at The Grove is like asking about a favorite child. Every season brings its own (really incredible, might I add) vibe, and I’m equally obsessed with them.
Spring weddings feel light, airy, and full of florals, and are perfect for the couple who wants easy romance and soft sunshine. Summer feels vibrant and brings the outdoor dinner party energy that we all know and love. Fall weddings at The Grove at Briar Barn Inn are special because Massachusetts?? It shows off in the fall! The colors are insane, and the weather is beautiful. Winter brings a kind of magic with dim lighting and sparkly snow that I’ll never be able to get enough of.
